This web site is built in honor of a passed friend of mine, David D. Denman who died in 2005 leaving those who knew him, missing the best walking dictionary about old homes, ever. The words used on this web site are his. The photos are his and the text is his.

About two weeks before his death he arrived at my home where we previously had shared brandy and cigars many times on my back porch. His youngest son, Owen was with him and was there to witness David giving me a copy of his unpublished book, The Architectural History of St. Joseph, Missouri.

I was honored to have a copy. He said he wanted me to use it where I could to "promote the historic homes of St. Joseph." At the time I had no idea that I would publish it in any form. Since the time of David's death I have gone to the local university and obtained my degree in convergent media. I'm using the skills learned there to fulfill our dreams of sharing this information with you.

It is my desire to improve this web site constantly and add more of his photos and text as time goes by, so check this site often. There are nearly fifty homes featured in this work. There are many more historic homes in the city. I have read his book and studied his photos in great detail. I can't wait to share them with you.
